Members of NESDC will often put on public
demonstrations with their working stock dogs. Often
these demonstrations are combined with a community event.
Notice of dates and time are posted on this web site.
Dog trials are one of the ways handlers
like to test their stock dog's ability to control and move
livestock. Most trials use a pre set course consisting
of an outrun, lift, fetch, drive or wear, and pen.
Open classes, which are for experienced dogs, may also add a
shed, a split, or another obstacle. Different points
are awarded by the judge or scorekeeper for each part of the
course.
Fun day trials provide an opportunity for
handlers to test their dogs in a non-competitive situation.
Fun days offer handlers and their dogs the opportunity to
try new things without the stress of a real competition.
Fun days may involve unusual obstacles, situations, or new
opportunities.
Working stock dogs come in all different
sizes, shapes and colors. They are bred for their
brains, not their looks!
